Hi, I've seen photos taken where the shutter was opened for about 12 hours. I was wondering if I can do that with a digital camera and what models/features to look for.I have a Canon XTi and the longest exposure I have done is about 10 mins. The problem with digital ( as far as my experience goes) is you get a lot of noise on long exposures, where in film that is not the case. I suppose that you could do a 12 hour exposure with a Camera such as mine, but the battery will definitely die, so you would need a AC adapter. I would also look for a camera with a lower ISO (less noise) but for such long exposures but it might be hard to miss all the noise with long exposures. Well I have been doing some research on the Sony 50mm f1.4 and research on the Sony 11-18 mm f4.5-5.6. The thing is that I'm torn between the two. Hi, I've seen photos taken where the shutter was opened for about 12 hours. I was wondering if I can do that with a digital camera and what models/features to look for.I have a Canon XTi and the longest exposure I have done is about 10 mins. The problem with digital ( as far as my experience goes) is you get a lot of noise on long exposures, where in film that is not the case. I suppose that you could do a 12 hour exposure with a Camera such as mine, but the battery will definitely die, so you would need a AC adapter. I would also look for a camera with a lower ISO (less noise) but for such long exposures but it might be hard to miss all the noise with long exposures. Ok so I managed to get perfect focus on her cute nose, but missed the eyes, I should have gone with a smaller aperture I guess. I had ISO set quite high as the light was poor, I dont have an external flash yet or a defuser that I could use on the pop up, so I set the aperture to 1.8 and i now realise it was to large. Well I have been doing some research on the Sony 50mm f1.4 and research on the Sony 11-18 mm f4.5-5.6. The thing is that I'm torn between the two. I understand that they are completely two different lenses. The 50mm is about $350.00 and the wide angle is $650.00. I like to take landscape photos and the wide would work well but i also like indoor shots and portraits. Price is not and issue as I'm about 3/4 of the way to the 650.00 mark.
