Obscure Sake

    Can you tell which product I have from the picture?

  • The sake is the photo is: 金陵　本醸造 辛口（佳撰）
    Name: Kinryo
    Grade: Honjouzou / Karakuchi
    Price: 1,692 yen (1800ml bottle)

    FYI, the price for its very top grade is 10,000 yen plus for the same-size bottle.

    The company accepts direct orders at this website but appears not to ship overseas. It offers no information on overseas shipping. Still, I found an email address:
    kinryo-sato@crux.ocn.ne.jp
    (I'm not sure whether this email address is for the brewer itself. It might be a sake restaurant that it is operating. Also, there is no guarantee that they understand English.)

    If you really want it, I think the best bet is to have someone living in Japan to place the order, accept the delivery and then ship the bottles to you in the UK.

  • Just found that the email address is for Kinryo no Sato, the sake museum founded by the brewer. More info here:

    I couldn't find any other email address on the website.

    Located in Kagawa Prefecture, it appears to be a leading sake brewer in the prefecture. It provides information in Japanese only. They have Kinryo sake in a wide variety of grades.
